Helping Others
We believe in helping our friends, both those we know well and those we haven't met yet. It's lonely, scary and difficult to be diagnosed with any of these conditions, and these organizations help many people. We think giving is a worthy alternative to spending, and here are some of those we support.
Army of Women
"The key to ending breast cancer is to learn how to stop it before it starts." Take an active role in research by participating in research surveys.
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
"The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma." That's an ambitious goal that needs our support.

The ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) Association
"We leave no stone unturned in the relentless search for a cure."

an actual email we received from a friend.
Subject: Can You Help Me?
-------------------------
"When I was working in an ophthalmology group, I had a patient who had
end-stage ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). He had progressively lost the
ability to move any part of his body. All he could do was blink his
eyes, once for no, twice for yes.
Imagine his situation. Here was a man who was mentally 100% sound but
couldn't move. It must have felt like he was being buried alive.
That was 13 years ago, but I can't forget him. Now I'm asking you to
support him and continue the fight for a cure. You can make a donation
online or send a check to The ALS Association.
Thank you so much,
Kim
